The Wheels on the Bus...
So much has happened since the last time I updated. The biggest thing is that I moved. I now have three new roommates. John, Jesse, and Colt. They're all cool guys and a lot of fun to be around. Sure, I might stay up until 6 in the morning playing Halo with them, but it's all in good fun.
I'm a lot happier here. I'm much less stressed and I feel like it's doing me a lot of good to be here. With the help of Colt, I got my papers done and so there's a load off of my back in my classes. I feel a lot more confident that I'll pass with some good grades in my classes.
I had a pretty good Thanksgiving. I visited my family in Cypress, Texas and had fun with my cousins just joking around about stuff. I went to Starbucks and pretended to be a yuppie with my uncle, sister, and future brother in law. We sat for hours talking about politics and no one got angry. I thought it particularly amusing that the same uncle who yelled at me for my anti-bush t-shirt roughly four years ago told me Thursday that he voted for Kerry and he hated Bush.
I went to a place called Victors for lunch with my family and I went shopping with my aunt and my sister. Not long after going out for ice cream, my sister and I both got very sick. Food poisoning is a bitch and I'm still not feeling to well.
One more announcement. For anybody out there who just happens to be a Kencyclopedia reader, Kipper and I are now rolling up our sleeves and working on the site. It will be up and updated pretty soon.

0 commentsThe Apocalypse is Upon Us
Wow. Houston is busy in news today.
1. An airplane schedueled to pick up George Bush Sr. crashed on the Beltway (Beltway 8) near Hobby Airport in the southeast. Everyone on board was killed.
2. Heavy storms have been ravaging the area. It's been crazy mad out there and the creek near my apartment is nearly over flown. Tornadoes are everywhere and there is more to come.
3. High speed chase went on today. Okay, so that's a more regular occurance, but it's still fun! I hope they caught him.
4. Lightening strike fire controversy going on not to far where I am now. Lightening struck an apartment complex this morning and firefighters, after investigation, said that there was no fire. One hour later, a fire broke out.
No one was harmed due to the weather, unless the plane crash had something to do with it. That is amazing.
I'm sorry about the lack of updates. It's been crazy go nuts here and I'm bogged down with tons of homework. In a few weeks I'll have so much time on my hands you won't be able to get rid of me.

Hey, aren't you...
Ever since my run-in with being hypnotized on stage, I have become somewhat a celebrity. I guess this is what they mean by fifteen minutes of fame. Don't get me wrong, I am by no means being crowded on the streets by people coming up to me and asking me for autographs. But, every once in a while someone I've never met comes up to me and asks me "Hey, aren't you that girl who was at that comedy club?". I'm sitting here at my college library trying to get my research paper on Benjamin Franklin done, when some guy I've never seen before comes up to me and asks me "Were you at the Laff Stop a couple of weeks ago?" Embarrassed, I nod in affirmation.
He then proceeds to ask me the question I get most. "Was it real?"
"Yes," I answer.
"Swear to God?"
"Scout's honor," I reply.
He then tells me that it was cool, and he thought that I did a great job. I blush and meekly thank him.
That's not the first time that's happened to me. When I went to go see the play at my high school, there was an old woman there that asked me the same thing. It happened again when I was at the grocery store, and yet again when I was at work and someone wanted some food to go.
It's kind of nice having my fifteen minutes of fame. All these years I've tried to get attention by being weird or talking loudly, when it all it took was a little wiggling of the rear and thinking that beverage napkins on a table were hundred dollar bills that I needed to stuff down my shirt.
Go figure.

Frito McGee
I went camping this weekend again. I had so much fun. It was much colder this time around so everyone was huddled into the fire. I love how there are no radios and no
televisions about. We all started telling stories and coming up with some weird stuff.
For example, we discovered that Fritos were highly flamable. As we sat there throwing chip after chip onto the fire, we started to accuse them of heresy. We'd proclaim that Frito McGee was accused of heresy on grounds of being a witch. Then we'd throw him into the flames.
God, we're nerds.

Light Out, Wanderlust
I've been going crazy lately because I've been stricken by a horrible disease. This disease is called Wanderlust. It's a horrible thing to go through. You get depressed, easily falliable to Cabin Fever. You get ansy, you can't sit still. You practically disown family because they get to go someplace exotic, and all you got to go to was the mailbox. You're practically in tears when you miss a chance to fly off somewhere you've never been and you sign up for those crazy "Win a trip to Italy!" ads you know you'll never win.
I've always had Wanderlust, for as long as I can remember, really. But it's gotten really bad lately. It's almost to the point where I want to sell everything I own and fly off in the sunset.
I know this isn't a serious problem, and I'm not saying it is. But it really does weigh down on the soul and it doesn't help when you feel like you're stuck in one place forever. I feel I'm stricken so horribly with Wanderlust that I'm going to go insane. I don't know what to do.

Eat your Wheaties
I know it's been like a week since I last updated, so I'll give you a summary of what's been going on.
1. Working: Of course, this is always what I've been doing. Work drives me crazy. I swear that place is cursed. I think it was built on some Indian Burial Ground or something because it seems like everyone that works there has some major problem going on in their lives. One guy has a drinking problem and seems to regret the fact that he does so, but can't stop. One chick is in love with one of her co-workers, but he has a drug problem and is a womanizer. Yet another woman there has a fiance that constantly accuses her of cheating on him. Is this the way it is in every place of business. And it really drains my energy working there because I feel I have this moral obligation to make everyone feel better, and that's really hard to do. I don't know if this is really what it's like everywhere. Should I get out of that place as soon as possible?
2. School: I take my classes online, so it's much easier for me to get it done, since I don't have a car. But, at the same time, it's more difficult because I have to work at my own pace and sometimes, if I have a question I can't get in touch with the professor. I never seem to have time to get any of my homework done. It's been a while since I've had to deal with the discipline of being in school. Actually, I think even when I was in school, I didn't deal with the discipline of being in school.
3. Home: We barely got rent paid this month, and we did it at the cost of both of our entire checks. That means, no bills can be paid, no food can be bought and no gas can be aquired. Our cable has been cut off (I don't need it, but for the internet aspect) and I've been hungry for a while now. I'm just lucky that I've got friends that feed me, or I don't know what I'd do. My place is a mess, and I never have time to clean it. I get a little done here and there, though, so it's making progress.
4. Me: I just got a haircut (free haircuts rock!) so I feel a bit better about that. I've been doing really well with getting sleep, which probably helps with the fact that I feel generally happy even when all this stuff seems to go wrong. I'm not as stressed as I should be in this situation.
5. Fun: I got hypnotized last week. I went to a commedy club and volunteered to be hypnotized. I really didn't expect to be picked for the final cut out of all who volunteered. To tell you the truth, I thought it was fake. I was wrong. It was a weird feeling. It felt like being really really drunk, but without the bad stuff like the stomach ache, the headache, and the worry about whether or not it's safe to drive home. I will, however, be made fun of by my friends and co-workers for all eternity.
I also had fun this weekend because I went to go see the Incredibles and a play at my old high school. The Incredibles was just as the name implies. Incredible. The graphics were so real, I forgot I was watching computer animation for parts of the movie. The story is nice, too, though I think it's more geared towards adults than children.
The play at the high school was strange. Not the play itself. The play was pretty good. The first half of it was a bit dull, but the second half was really really good. I was suprised that high school kids were that talented. The play was Jekyll and Hyde and that's a hard show to pull off. The strange thing about it was that it was at my old high school. I'm too young to be feeling nostalgia towards my high school, but that's what it was like. It was strange to see the old walls and the stairs and the lockers and then seeing nobody that I recognize. I guess I better get used to it.

It's Over
I'm in tears right now. I'm crying because it's all but official. George W. Bush will be president for the next four years.
Something in my mind can't even grasp that. How can a little over half the country want this villainous administration to terrorize our world for another four years. Doesn't anyone care about anyone else anymore? Doesn't anyone care about our environment? Doesn't anyone care that giant corporations are taking over our way of life?
I'm not talking about almost half the country, of course. Not the half that voted for Kerry or a third party canidate.
I'm just going to sit here and mourn because who knows what will happen in these next four years. Just think about all that happened in the last four. And this time, Bush doesn't have to worry about getting reelected.

Just Vote
Yes, this is yet another one of the many pleas to get you to go out there and vote. But it's necessary. You don't think your vote makes a difference? Over half of the United States population doesn't vote. If they all did, think of how much of a differnce that would make. There are other democratic states that have 100% voter turn out. Why don't we?
Don't want to vote because you're choosing between a douche bag and a turd sandwich (yes, I know, South Park reference). There are more than two parties on the ballot. Vote a third party. If everyone who doesn't vote because they don't like the two main canidates voted for a third party, we could show those polititian snots in DC that there are more than two parties out there.
Don't have enough time? I bet if you told your boss you'd be late because you needed to go vote, he/she would gladly give you the time off.
So please, do your duty. If you love this country, if you want to make a difference, vote. Please.

The Great Outdoors
This weekend, I camped out for the first time. Sure it was in an area near a city and sure there were a couple hundred other people camping, too, but it was still my first time.
There's something wonderful that happens when you leave your home and technology behind and spend time in The Great Outdoors.
I had a great time this whole weekend. Saturday was my brother's 16th birthday party, so I spent the day helping my mother shop and decorate and cut vegetables. We watched a little bit of Eddie Izzard Stand-up and played Halo all night. Soon after that, I was wisked away by one of my friends to the Texas Rennaisance Festival camping grounds. We arrived (after getting lost) at around 2.30am. I stayed up most of the night just watching the fire and staring at the stars. Finally, around 6.30am I grabbed my sleeping back, crawled into the tent and fell asleep. I wanted to sleep outside of the tent, but people were starting to wake up and it was too loud. I never slept outside before, but it was nice. I woke up again around 8am and headed out to the Festival. I spent the whole time watching the costumes and wandering around.
At 2pm two of my friends got married in one of the gardens and we had a wonderful reception in a shady grove. At nightfall, we watched fire dancers and then a Fireworks display. Then bagpipers escorted us back to the camp, where we packed up and left.
I never have felt more relaxed than I did this weekend. If ever you have a chance, grab a sleeping bag, a tent, and a friend and go camping.
